2015 Wrap-Up and 2016 TBR

I'm back from my unexpected school/work/vacation hiatus. This semester was tough, but I passed all my classes and am on track to graduate in May with an AAS (Associate of Applied Science) in Management in Culinary Arts and a Certificate in Baking and Pastry Arts :) With that being said, I did not have much time to read. I did start reading The Selection by Keira Cass yesterday on my phone (It's free for Scribd members...there are audiobooks and ebooks for The Selection, The Elite, and The One. The novellas may also be available.)

I did not hit my goal of 40 books. I will try to hit 20. I'm currently at 15 with 4 on my currently reading shelf (Life and Death and The Selection are my most recent). I have not read The Essence or Beautiful Creatures recently. I am enjoying all these books, but I have a much harder time getting into ebooks than paperback or hardcover books. I don't know why, but it takes me FOREVER to read ebooks. Nine Lives of Chloe King took months, where most books that length take me a couple weeks, maybe a month.

2015 Wrap Up (From my Goodreads):
Nine Lives of Chloe King by Liz Braswell
Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Allegiant by Veronica Roth
Four by Veronica Roth
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead
The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead
The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead
Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead
The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead
The Pledge by Kimberly Derting
Looking for Alaska by John Green
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan
An Abundance of Katherines by John Green

Books I need to finish:
The Essence by Kimberly Derting
Beautiful Creatures by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia
Life and Death by Stephanie Meyer (probably gonna finish this during the weekend)
The Selection by Keira Cass

I have not put a lot of thought into the books I want to read in 2016, considering most of my books are in Florida (where I'll be moving to after graduation). These are the books I have here (or need to buy) that I know I want to read
2016 TBR:
Clockwork Angel
Clockwork Prince
Clockwork Princess
City of Bones
City of Ashes
City of Glass
City of Fallen Angels
City of Lost Souls
City of Heavenly Fire
The Bane Chronicles
Lady Midnight (when it comes out); all by Cassandra Clare
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Dangerous Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
Dangerous Deception by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

My main priority for the first couple months of 2016 is to read Infernal Devices, Mortal Instruments and Lady Midnight. I want to see the City of Bones movie and then the Shadowhunters series which premieres January 12th on FreeForm (aka ABC Family)!!! This is about it for my wrap up/TBR. Next post will be a fun one. Let me know what you've read and liked this year and what you want to read next year :) Merry Christmas everyone!

July Wrap-Up/August TBR

I just realized I forgot to post my reviews for a few series...they're coming soon. Since it's now August, I think it's safe to do a July wrap-up and August TBR. I read quite a few books, and I must say I've put quite a dent in my 2015 reading challenge. I'm still behind but progressing well. As of now I've read 14 books, which is much better than the past couple years :) So far, I recommend all the books I've read this year. All the full reviews are on my Goodreads.

JULY WRAP-UP:
The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) by Richelle Mead
I'm obsessed with the Vampire Academy world, so I marked them all 5 stars lol. This one as great. I loved how she included so many plot twists in each book, as well as one at the end of each. This storyline was incredible

The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4) by Richelle Mead
This one started the dual perspective between Sydney and Adrian. I thought she picked the best part in the series to do it. It definitely helped the story progress smoothly.

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines #5) by Richelle Mead
This was excellent. I loved the dual perspective the most in this book. It really showed how Sydney and Adrian's relationship from both points of view, which is really uncommon.

The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines #6) by Richelle Mead
I was so sad this was the last book. Luckily it wasn't a cliff hanger, like some series. I would love another series from the VA world because I love it so much. This is by far my favorite vampire series. I recommend both Vampire Academy and Bloodlines to anyone who likes YA paranormal romance.

The Pledge (The Pledge #1) by Kimberly Derting
I liked it, but not as much as I originally anticipated. It started slow but then got a little faster. It's about a girl who has the ability to speak the languages of all the social classes, as well as Englaise (which is the universal language of the country). It was quite good. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Contrary to what most people say, this book did not make me cry. Movies make me cry more than books do. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I don't know how it'll affect me. I loved this book though. It was fantastic. This was a one day read for me, which is very shocking. I've had 3 one-day reads this year, which I haven't had since I was younger.

Looking For Alaska by John Green
I liked how unconventional this book was. I really liked how he used dates as chapters. It really helped show how much time went by in the book. Some books make it hard to tell how much time goes by, but this one didn't have that problem. This was the 3rd one-day read for 2015.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan
I really liked this one. I read it in a few days and enjoyed it. It's a really good read, especially if you're part of the LGBTQ community. I loved how each chapter was different (one had correct punctuation and the other had very little capitalization-which drove me crazy but helped differentiate the Will Graysons). I also liked the writing style and honestly the place they meet is just gold (insert laughing emoji).

Those were all the books I read in July. Before I start my August TBR, I'm finishing An Abundance of Katherines by John Green and The Essence (The Pledge #2) by Kimberly Derting

AUGUST TBR:
The Offering (The Pledge #3) by Kimberly Derting
Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld
Paper Towns by John Green
Beautiful Creatures by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia
Beautiful Darkness by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia
Beautiful Chaos by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia
Beautiful Redemption by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia

Reading Challenge Update

Today's post is a shorter one because I don't have much to tell today. I've done most of my TBR and challenge posts already. Maybe soon I'll post a complete and incomplete series list.

If you read my post a couple weeks ago on my 2015 TBR/Reading Challenge, you know I'm catching up on it. I'm getting ready to start The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines #6) and then finish The Pledge trilogy afterwards. Once I finish those 3, I'm going on a series break and reading some standalones. I'm going to try to stay as close to my TBR as I can, but who knows. I'm reading the books on my TBR as well as a book club read when I can :) I'll post a wrap-up each month and again at the end of the year.

I enjoyed all the books I've read this year. I finished the Pledge by Kimberly Derting yesterday. It was great. I didn't want it to end. Maybe I like books too much, but that's not really possible, right? ;) I just enjoy getting away without physically leaving the house.

I'm still sticking to my 40 book goal. If I want to finish it, I'll be reading 4-6 books a month, depending on how many I read this month and next month, and how busy I am when school starts again in late August.

Next week I'll be posting 3-4 series reviews: Divergent, Vampire Academy, Bloodlines, and maybe The Pledge. I enjoyed reading all 4 series (well, the first 5 books in Bloodlines and the first book in The Pledge trilogy). The reviews for each book are on my Goodreads :)

Until next time, keep reading and enjoying the summer! I'll enjoy mine more if Mother Nature decides to let us have more than a couple sunny days...oh the joys of living in Tennessee :/

Top 10 Authors I Want To Read

I've been watching a ton of BookTube videos (mainly Katytastic, Bookables, PeruseProject, and PolandbananasBOOKS). I recommend all their channels for ideas, reviews, discussions, hauls, etc. I've watched a few videos like this and thought I'd write a post on the top 10 authors that I haven't read but really want to. There will actually be more than 10, but I'll number the top 10 and mention the rest. I have books from most of the authors on my list...I tend to buy books much faster than I can read them.

These aren't in any specific order:
1.) Jenny Han (I have her Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy)
2.) Scott Westerfeld (I have his Uglies series and Afterworlds)
3.) Lauren Conrad (I have her LA Candy and Fame Game series)
4.) Nicholas Sparks (I have a few of his books)
5.) Sarah Dessen (I have a few of her books)
6.) Rainbow Rowell (I have Eleanor and Park)
7.) Sara Shepard (I have a few Pretty Little Liars and Lying Game books)
8.) Rick Riordan
9.) Cassandra Clare (I have all the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices books)
10.) John Green (I have all his books except Let It Snow)

Other authors I want to read but aren't on the top 10:
*Stephen King (any suggestions on which to read first would be appreciated)
*Lauren Kate (I have the Fallen series)
*Lauren Oliver (I have the Delirium series and Panic)
*Gayle Forman (I have If I Stay and Where She Went)
*Marissa Meyer (I have Cinder)
*Ally Condie (I have Matched)
*Rachel Caine (I have most of the Morganville Vampires books)
*James Patterson (I have the first 4 Witch and Wizard books)
*Christopher Pike (I have the Thirst series)
*Michael Grant (I have the Gone series)
*Sherrilyn Kenyon (I really want to read the Chronicles of Nick-I have the first 5-and I just learned that there will be a total of 14 books in the series!) :)
*Alyson Noel (I have the Immortal series)

Those are all the authors I can think of right now. Before anyone asks, there is a fairly long list of authors I have read (That'll be among my next posts). My next posts (which will probably be today or tomorrow) will be authors I have read, most owned authors, favorite completed series, incomplete series, and standalones I like. I would love some suggestions for books by any of the authors on this list. As you can tell, I like a pretty good variety of books. My favorite genres are YA dystopian and YA Paranormal Romance. Check out my Goodreads for my favorite books and series. Until my next post, keep reading fellow bookies!
